I don’t have active acne anymore, just a few spots here and there when I’m under stress or eating unhealthy. But I have many freckles/sunspots! When Our Happy Box reached out to me to test a few of their products I was happily obliged since they have specific line for pigmentation.
RYOR Depigmentation Cream
Ingredients list:
Aqua, Persea Gratissima Oil, Isopropyl Myristate, Alcohol Denat., Lecithin, Ethyl Ascorbic Acid, Propylene Glycol, Behentrimonium Chloride, Aloesin, Hexylresorcinol, Disodium EDTA, Isopropyl Alcohol, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Squalene, Polysorbate 60, Glycerin, Oleyl Erucate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Panthenol, Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil, Benzyl Alcohol, Dehydroacetic Acid
I don’t find anything alarming regarding the ingredient list.
This is a classic cream, an emulsion of oils and water.
Avocado is the dominant oil, which is medium weight oil, high in oleic acid. A lovely oil for soften and help inflamed skin, absorb fast.
Isopropyl Myristate is an emollient ester that help reduces the greasiness of the cream and acts as a penetration enhancer to help deliver actives.
There’s alcohol denat. in the cream but it doesn’t smell like it nor it dry out skin, probably use as a solvent and make the cream less greasy.
Ethyl Ascorbic Acid and Aloesin are the actives here, functioned as skin whitening. Ethyl Ascorbic acid is a stable derivative of ascorbic acid. It’s supposed to inhibit the activity of Tyrosinase and prevent the synthesis of melanin, antioxidant, anti-inflammation, help synthesis of collagen. It’s supposed to do many good things but I couldn’t find many literature regarding this derivative of ascorbic acid. So I’m not sure!
Squalene, Tocopheryl acetate, and panthenol are all good for skin and always welcome!
Who is it for?
All skin types
Texture/smell:
Light, non greasy, absorb fast, no scent cream.
How do you use it?
Their directions: Apply to pigment spots once or twice a day. Make sure to apply another cream as an additional layer to protect the skin against environmental factors.
For me: I applied it at the end of my routine, which is after serums and before facial oil. Sometime, I mixed a few drops of oil with it. I used on all over the face instead only on spots.
My Results:
I have been using it consistently for several months, once a day at night. I didn’t notice any fading regarding my sunspots (mine are extremely stubborn!) but the cream is super lightweight, non greasy and keep skin moisture. Most important it doesn’t give me milia seeds like other heavy cream. With such an affordable price of $18 for 50ml I say give it a try, it might help with your pigmentation otherwise it’s not a bad moisturizer 🙂
